There's a fairly succinct summation of the Hooj story amongst the comments on the labels discogs page :

A neat little theory that the data might be shown to support. if you went by the diminishing sales curves, timing of impending implosion timing, etc.
But then I listen back to this ( from two fondly remembered , v talented Newcastle lads), to Mooger Fooger, Aphashia, Drunken Monkey, Legend of Talking Dog etc ... and can't regret any of it.
Our musical tastes had simply moved on, and we couldn't pretend otherwise at the time
